Dangers of Vaping – Is Electronic USING TOBACCO Dangerous?
Precisely what is Vaping? Vaping may be the act of inhaling the vaporized aerosol (mixed with propylene glycol) from a like device, most often a Vaporizer, that is connected to a cigarette lighter. The Vaporizer industry has very little regulation. The dangers of Vaping remain being slowly found. The American Cancer Society says that the vapor produced by an average “high powered” vaporizer poses no serious health risks.
But what about E-liquid? E-liquid is a lot harder to modify than vapor. The FDA says that it is basically the ditto as tobacco. As the US FDA doesn’t ban or restrict e-liquid, they do ban the sale of any sort of “rolling cigarettes”. This seems unfair to numerous vapers.
Most E-liquids are comprised of a variety of chemical compounds, some of which have been proven to cause cancer. It isn’t just the vapor that’s bad for your health: E-liquids are also made out of carcinogens along with other toxic chemicals. One company claims that their E-juice is clear of all these harmful chemicals, but you’d be hard pressed to get this out through their website. There are thousands of different chemical substances used in E-liquids. Are the manufacturers’ assurances true?
You will find a pending multi-million dollar study published by the Associated Press. This study viewed the effects on adults of long-term smokers who have been later diagnosed with lung disease. What were the findings? The study found that long-term smokers who continued to use e-liquids had more issues with chronic bronchitis than non-smokers. This news release is being widely reported over the media.
What about second hand smoking? In line with the American Cancer Society, vapors released from e-liquid cigarettes may contain tar and other cancer causing chemicals. One reason we recommend against vaping is because of this potential exposure. You can also hear from the American Cancer Society on their webpage on the dangers of vaporing due to carbon monoxide smoke.
The dangers of E-Liquids usually do not end in the surgeon general’s report on the dangers of vapors. A new study from the American Heart Association looked at the ingredients in some popular brands of e-cigs and found that over two thousand chemicals had been detected. Puff Bar On the list of chemicals identified were carcinogens like propylene glycol and ethylene oxide. These chemicals have already been associated with cancer. Other known carcinogens include nicotine, toluene, tars and arsenic.
There’s yet a study published from the Royal Society of Medicine that looking at the long term effects of E-Liquids on human health. This study published in the British Journal of Cancer has looked at more than twelve thousand people who quit smoking due to E-Cigarette use. While there was a decrease in mortality, there is a significant upsurge in risk for cardiovascular disease, stroke and oral cancer. Not only was there a significant increase in risk for these diseases when working with electronic cigarettes, but there was also an increased risk of stroke when using them. It had been concluded that these dangers were strongly associated with the ingredients found in e-juices.
We understand the desire to stop smoking and we believe the huge benefits offered by e-juices are worth the risks, but much like anything there is always a risk. The end result is that the more research that’s done on E-Cigarettes the higher prepared we will be to make informed decisions about their use. If you or somebody you understand smoke or are thinking about smoking today, then it is in your best interest to provide E-Cigs a try. But do not forget to keep yourself informed about the dangers of vapors and any potential problems associated with their use!
